About us

Amy & Mirco

Picture
Amy was born in Boulder Colorado, but in 1988 and her father’s second marriage brought her to the small village of Montebenichi in Tuscany. When she arrived there for the first time, she discovered that she had come Home. She attended Italian public schools and then fell in love with wine and started her own business diVino (www.divinotours.com), specialising in private custom wine tours in Italy.

Mirco was born into the world of food and wine, having literally grown up in his family's restaurant iIl Casolare dei Segreti, where he worked for over 20 years as Sommelier. He recently left the family business to become an elementary school teacher where he aims to share his love for nature, culture and poetry with his kids.

In 2011 Amy & Mirco discovered the land that was to become Costa Digiano. They immediately fell in love with this abandoned 12 acre parcel and after the year long journey that it took them to purchase the land they began restoring the ancient olive grove and tending each corner of their farm until it blossomed into a self-sustainable homestead and a refuge for wildlife and pollinators.

Stella

Picture
Stella arrived in May 2012. We found her abandoned in the mountains above Treia, where she waited for days by the side of the road for whoever had left her there to come back... she was starving and covered in tics and fleas. It was love at first sight and Stella has been my best friend ever since! Stella's favorite thing is running at top speed up and down the Costa, especially barreling through pools of mud and murky puddles of slime on her way back to get more love and snuggles.

Baran & Nina

Picture

Baran & Nina are our 2 rescue horses that live at Costa Digiano.
Baran arrived in 2012, retiring to the pasture after a long life as a stable horse. Baran is my teacher and my treasured friend, gazing straight into my heart and teaching me how to be a better person.
Our wine carries his name.

Nina is a young Trotter who had a difficult life before coming to Costa Digiano. When she joined Baran in the pasture in 2014 she had deep wounds in her heart and soul, but with time, freedom and next to her beloved herd she has blossomed into a fiery and strikingly intelligent beauty who now lives the happy life of a free horse.

The horses have brought new life to the old olive grove, where the pasture freely, maintaining the grass, fertilising and supplying lots of great maure for our worm composting.
